June 15th, 2016 - Volotea, the airline of mid and small‐sized European cities, has risen 8 millionth of passengers and in order to celebrate, the company has given to Ilaria Spina, passenger number 8 millionth, a very special present: she will be able to fly to all destinations within Volotea routes throughout 1 year.
The lucky passenger arrived this morning to Catania airport where she received the good news and she flew to Venice on the flight V7 1261. In Venice, Carlos Muñoz, CEO and founder of Volotea, Luigi Bugnaro, Venice Mayor, and Enrico Marchi, Venice airport chairperson, received the winner to congratulate her.
Ilaria Spina, a 23 years old student from Catania, received her special prize: she will be able to fly to all destinations within Volotea routes throughout 1 year.
“We are pleased to celebrate 8 millionth of passengers in Italy” – declared Carlos Muñoz-. “We are glad of the Italian passengers welcome, especially in our Volotea base, Venice, where we have a huge flights offer in order to meet the expectations of each type of passenger”.
Volotea is offering 32 destinations departing from Venice distributed in 6 countries: Greece (Athens, Corfu, Crete, Kos, Mykonos, Preveza Lefkada, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos and Zakynthos), France (Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes and Toulouse), Spain (Alicante, Majorca, Santander, Bilbao and Asturias), Croatia (Spilt and Dubrovnik), Czech Republic (Prague) e Italy (Alghero, Bari, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Olbia, Palermo, Pantelleria and Lampedusa).
The airline has reached a great success since the beginning of the operation in Venice in 2012. Volotea has transported more than 1.900.000 passengers on its more than 21.9000 flights.
In addition, to celebrate that milestone with all passengers, the airline has launched a special promotion for all passengers who book their flights before the 19th of June: they will receive a voucher valued up to 70 euros per passenger to fly from the 20th of September to the 15th of December in 2016.

Few days ago, Volotea communicated the launch of its new base in Genoa, the fourth one in Italy and the ninth in Europe. In 2017, the company will have nine bases in Italy (Venice, Verona, Palermo and Genoa), France (Nantes, Bordeaux, Strasbourg and Toulouse) and Spain (Asturias).
Volotea records strong growth across Europe
Volotea continues to grow and fulfil its objectives: the Company, which in 2012 had two bases (Venice and Nantes) had seven in 2015 (Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Asturias and Verona) and has just opened its 8th base in Toulouse, in March 2016. In 2017 the airline will launch the ninth base in Genoa.
In 2016, the low-cost airline will operate flights to three new countries (Portugal, Malta and UK), in addition to the 10 countries it flew to last year (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, The Czech Republic, Israel, Albania and Moldova), offering a total of more than 38,000 flights, with 196 routes to 72 cities, in 13 countries.
Volotea transported 2.5 million passengers in 2015 and forecasts between 3.3 and 3.5 million in 2016, which represents an increase of 35%-40%. In addition, the company expects to reach 10 million passengers accumulated by the end of this year. The Company will incorporate four Airbus A319 to its fleet of 19 Boeing 717 in the first months of 2016. This strategic decision will allow the company to increase its passenger capacity by 20%, from its current 125 seats to 150 seats on its plane. The capacity of the A319 in terms of length of flight, will also allow the company to operate routes with a longer distance and therefore, to penetrate new markets.
Volotea was awarded on 21st October 2015 with the Prize of the Best Client Service for 2015 in the airline category. In Quality of Service, Volotea scored the highest of all the companies evaluated, with 8.58 / 10, which makes it the leader in the Airline category.
